IN VITRO FERTILIZATION (IVF)

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) involves either adding prepared sperm to a dish containing mature eggs or injecting a single sperm directly into an egg—a technique known as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). Fertilisation then takes place in a carefully controlled laboratory environment. Once fertilised, the developing embryos are closely monitored. One or more embryos are transferred into the uterus at the appropriate time. Additional high-quality embryos can be frozen and stored through embryo freezing. These frozen embryos may later be thawed and transferred into the uterus via a procedure known as Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET).
